Holidays The annual entitlement for full time staff is 25 days and you can carry over up to 5 days into the following holiday year. The holiday year runs from April to March. You can also buy or sell up to 5 days holiday through flex (see below for more details) Private Medical Insurance On completion of 3 months service you will automatically be given single cover that also covers pre-existing conditions. You can amend this level of cover through flex. Life Assurance On the first day of joining the channel you are eligible to Life Assurance of four times salary. You may vary the amount of cover through flex. (see below under Flexible Benefits) Pension The Channel has two pension schemes:
Maternity Leave The Channel offers maternity leave benefits in excess of the statutory minimum. Women are entitled to 52 weeks maternity regardless of length of service and receive at least one months pay (rising to four months pay on completion of one years service at the Channel) Paternity Leave Paternity Leave is available to all eligible employees (male or female) of the channel regardless of their length of service. Employees can take up to 10 days paid leave. Parental Leave The Channel offers a flexible approach to those who wish to take unpaid time off work to care for a child or to make arrangements for a child’s welfare, and the amount varies with service length. It may be used simply to enable parents to spend more time with young children. Childcare Allowance If you have a child under 5 years and meet the criteria for eligibility then you may be eligible for an annual allowance of £1,200 per annum for the first child and £500 for the second child through payroll. Flexible Working We'll do everything we can to fit in with your needs, and depending on your circumstances we can offer a range of flexible working patterns including compressed working hours so you do all your hours in either 4 days a week of 9 days a fortnight, earlier or later start and finish times, part-time and job share arrangements and remote working. Sick Leave Under the Channel 4 scheme for most cases of short sickness absence staff are eligible for their normal full salary depending on length of service accrued at the Channel. Season Ticket Loan To make life easier the Channel offers an interest free season ticket loan for travelling to and from work. This is paid back through the payroll over 12 months.
In addition to the core benefits described above we offer a range of optional extras you can mix and match to suit your needs. Some examples are: Annual Leave Flex allows you to increase (buy) or decrease (sell) the number of days holiday you have during the year by five days (37 hours). If you increase the number of days holiday then we will charge you for this time but if you decrease the number of days holiday we will pay you for the time. Each day is calculated at 1/260th of base salary. Bike to Work The Bike to Work scheme through Evans Cycles allows you to buy a bike and accessories on a tax efficient basis for the purposes of going to and from work. Choose a voucher from £250 up to £1,000 on the website and you will pay back the monthly amount via the payroll in twelve monthly instalments without incurring tax and NI. Critical Illness Insurance Critical Illness Insurance pays out a lump sum on first diagnosis on a number of specified illnesses (unlike Life Assurance which pays out on death). You can choose from various cover levels for yourself and/or your partner. Health Screening You can choose an annual health screen for you and/or your partner through BUPA Wellness. There are there levels of health screen available. These are Wellman/Woman, Classic and Premier. Life Assurance Under Flex you can reduce the level of cover down to as little as 1 x salary and take cash back. The amount of cash back will vary according to age and salary. Private Dental Insurance The Flex scheme allows you to tailor private dental insurance to suit your needs, with cover provided by Denplan. You can choose from three options (Essential, Extensive or Extensive Plus Cover) for yourself, plus partner, plus children or plus family. Private Medical Insurance You can select the level of cover that is appropriate to your needs. In addition to single cover you can cover your partner, your children or both your partner and children. Travel Insurance You can select annual Travel Insurance for yourself and members of your family through CGGA Assistance and the two options are Worldwide Cover with Winter Sports and Worldwide Cover without Winter Sports. Wine Bank When you sign up to become a member of Wine Bank you receive 33% Wine Interest every quarter - and as a Welcome Offer, Virgin Wines will supply you with 6 free bottles of wine. Deductions from salary are £20 a month. Childcare Vouchers The childcare voucher scheme is a flexible, simple and cost-effective way to contribute to childcare costs. You can receive up to £243 per month in vouchers without incurring tax or National Insurance as long as the vouchers are paid to registered or approved childcarers.
The Channel implements a comprehensive range of health and wellbeing initiatives, ranging from free interactive pedometers, tai-chi, chair massage, and running clubs, through to health road shows. Employee Assistance Programme This is a confidential 24hr 365 days a year hotline available for all staff with trained counsellors to deal with all problems, worries or concerns you may have. Additionally, employees can have up to seven face-to-face sessions with a counsellor. Occupational Health We have an onsite Occupational Health Adviser to help with any health and wellbeing concerns you may have in your day to day job. Eye tests We provide free annual eyesight tests to all permanent staff and staff on contracts of one year or more, who have successfully completed their probationary period.
