Channel 4 prides itself on developing talent not just within its own company, but across the industry as a whole. In fact, a large proportion of our budget is spent helping companies outside of our remit get the very best from their employees and members. Over the years, we've supported dozens of organisations; from the Actors' Centre to Youth Culture Television. We understand how hard it is for people to get the right kind of development opportunities in the media. Why do we do it£ Because there simply isn't enough support out there, and we know that those people we've supported in the past will support us in the future, in many different ways. But it's not just financially that we help other organisations move forward - like our many in-house development schemes, our help takes on a range of different guises, from mentoring, to sitting on company boards and helping businesses grow sustainably. In short, we provide what is needed, when it is needed, to help whoever needs it most. Expertise and guidance can, in our opinion, hold much more value than money. And that's exactly what we do within Channel 4 too. Alongside the more traditional and formal 'training courses' we work with you to develop and provide a range of development solutions that specifically fit the needs of those who need them most. So if you're working in a growth area of new media and need constant support and guidance in new technologies, that's exactly what you get. Once you know that we're here for you, with all the necessary resources, you can learn to rely on us to help you develop within your career. No two people do the same job and we recognise that. It's because Channel 4 prides itself as a natural home of talented and creative people that we offer not just the 'creatives' guidance, but those across the board, from accountants to cleaners to technicians. Whatever you do, we ask: 'What do you need to achieve your role and what can we give you to help?'. From award winning management courses, to on-line courses, to one-to-one coaching and mentoring, there's something for everyone. In addition to all this, we recently used the opportunity of National Skills Day to bring in coaches from organisations we've helped develop to teach Channel 4 employees skills ranging from graffiti, to DJing, to acting. So it's not all formal presentations and lectures. In fact, we want to approach your development on every level - personally, as part of a team and as a team leader/manager. The Training and Development team works closely with you, your Line Manager and the Human Resource Officer to help you develop most effectively within your role with minimal disruption, leaving you to do what you do best. Our approach is probably best summarised by our core values of 'Do it first', 'Make trouble', and 'Inspire change' which is exactly what we hope you will do with our full support. |
